About our Poway Unit
The Poway Auxiliary is made up of about 50 women, many of whom joined after attending Tabletops and Tea as a guest. We live in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Scripps Ranch, Carlsbad, and Escondido. We all have different strengths, talents, and personalities. But we all have one thing in common and that is our passion for helping children.
As a unit we come together to fund raise and advocate for Rady Children’s Hospital. And of course being a part of this unit gives us the opportunity to meet and socialize with a great group of women!
Each year, we collect “New Clothing” items for the Emergency Department for patients and families who arrive with only the clothes they’re wearing. We also collect items for “Brown Bags” containing non-perishable food and drinks and “Comfort and Care” bags containing travel-size toiletries/personal hygiene items for patient families who unexpectedly find themselves staying at the hospital.
We meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm at Bernardo Heights Country Club. Our meeting schedule and volunteer opportunities are ideal for busy women who are looking for ways to support Rady Children's Hospital.

History of Tabletops and Tea:
In 2004 we had a concept for an afternoon tea where 25 of the women from our unit would each decorate a table with their own place settings from home. The only cohesive theme that year was that each table should incorporate the color pink in their theme. The tables would be filled with our guests, and when it was time to go home, the table hostesses, would scrape off their plates, and take them home to wash. In 2008 we added 3 beautifully decorated tables that our guests could “win” with an opportunity drawing ticket! This was such a big hit that we decided to make the opportunity drawing tables the focus of our event. In 2009 we had 10 tables that our guests had the opportunity to take home. In 2012 we added a live auction!
In 2023, we expanded to include more attendees by adding a "Twist" from tabletops to bar carts. This event is a great event to spend with your significant other and friends while raising money for Rady Children's Hospital.
